Ron Crocker, known by most as Coach Crocker, is Ranney’s Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track coach. Coach Crocker is a lifelong runner and huge fan of the sport. Crocker’s runner career started in the 6th grade, continuing through college at Hampton University all the way to competing as a Master’s runner. Crocker also spent over 20 years as a NJSIAA track official and was honored as the NJSIAA Official of the year in 2003. Traveling around the world as a fan of the sport, attending the World Championships in Paris, the Van Damme Memorial in Brussels and several USA National Championships here in the states has only grown Crocker’s passion and knowledge of the sport.
While Coach Crocker has been involved with track and field for over 45 years, he also worked for Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) for 32 years, retiring in May 2021. In his previous role with JCP&L, he was an External Affairs Consultant, serving as a point of contact for legislative, county, and municipal officials. Along with coaching for Ranney School Crocker also serves as the schools Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and belonging. Crocker received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Hampton University.
Tara Hodson has been a Head Coach of Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track at Ranney School since Fall of 2017. Prior to coaching, she was a varsity distance runner at Howell High School and continued to run in college at The College of New Jersey, where she was an Academic All American in Fall of 2013 and was awarded the Outstanding F
Tara Hodson has been a Head Coach of Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track at Ranney School since Fall of 2017. Prior to coaching, she was a varsity distance runner at Howell High School and continued to run in college at The College of New Jersey, where she was an Academic All American in Fall of 2013 and was awarded the Outstanding Female Track Athlete in the NJAC in Spring of 2014. Additionally, Tara was both NJAC and ECAC Athlete of the Week multiple times during her college career. Post-college, Tara ran her first marathon, the Philadelphia Marathon, and qualified for the Boston Marathon in 2020, which was moved to a virtual event due to COVID.
Outside of running, Tara enjoys her job as a Physics & Engineering teacher at Ranney School, and loves reading, crafting, and spending time with her daughter and husband.
